Tokophobia
Our Doulas provides support to women suffering from tocophobia. The term tocophobia (also spelt tokophobia) is used to describe the fear of pregnancy and chilldbirth. Sufferers are described as tocophobic (tokophobic). There are two types of tocophobia:
Primary tocophobia, prior to pregnancy and can start as early as adolescence,
and
Secondary tocophobia, which is associated with an earlier traumatic experience in childbirth.
The term parturiphobia is also known as a phobic fear of pregnancy and childbirth.
