Come to our Doula Training/Find A Doula Open Day. We warmly welcome parents to be, would be doulas, health professionals such as midwives and health visitors. A Doula is a person who is trained to provide support to women and their families during pregnancy, childbirth, and the period of time during the postnatal period.
A trained experienced professional Doula can mean so much more for pregnant mums and their partners if they have them.
"First thing to say is how much I enjoyed the session and the opportunity to meet all those interesting and motivated people. I think the value of the event lies in the fact that all those people attending will feel part of a team with a shared goal even though they work as individuals. This is important because it allows for the sharing of information and reflection on practice. In my opinion, this will in turn influence those considering training as Doulas to feel part of a supportive network.
Also the airing of views helps to inform the debate on current childbirth issues from personal experiences and helps both midwives and doulas understand each others perspectives and challenges. From this aspect it was great to have the midwives present as well as our wonderful doulas who I believe, demonstrated that they were very clear in their role and boundaries and that their aim was to work in partnership with their clients and other healthcare professionals.
